Zuppa Toscana Soup Recipe

Zuppa Toscana Soup Recipe


  • 1 lb Italian sausage or pork sausage
  • 2 med size potatoes cut into small cubes
  • 1 med onion, chopped
  • 1⁄4 cup bacon bits
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Pinch of ground sage
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups kale chopped (remove stems)
  • 3 (8 ounce) cans chicken broth
  • 1 -1/2 cups water
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream


  • Break up uncooked sausage into small pieces
  • Brown sausage, onion together on med heat
  • Add in the sage, Italian seasoning, and pepper
  • Cook until sausage is no longer pink
  • Add garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes
  • Add potatoes, chicken broth, kale, water, and stir
  • Cook on med heat until potatoes and kale are tender
  • Add bacon
  • Salt to taste if needed
  • Add cream
  • Adjust heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes longer
  • Serve
