These soft buttery Pecan Praline Cookies are all jazzed up with a little taste of New Orleans.
It’s baking season and that means cookies! If you like Pralines you will certainly like these.  A special treat anytime of the year, but they also make a great addition to the holiday cookie tray.

Who doesn’t enjoy a delicious fresh baked cookie with a cup of coffee or tea? And you know the kids need an after school treat while they are doing their homework.
Be warned…these cookies are addicting.

Pecan Praline Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1-1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1-1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1-1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans
  • Icing:
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup confectioner's sugar
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  • In mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar
  • Add in egg and vanilla and mix well
  • In a separate bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt
  • Whisk together until well combined
  • Add to the creamed mixture
  • Mix together until well combined
  • Cover and refrigerate until dough is firm (1-2 hours)
  • Form into 1" balls
  • Place on parchment lined cookie sheet 2 " apart
  • Press down on cookies to flatten them
  • Sprinkle the tops with chopped pecans
  • Bake at 350 F (preheated) 10-11 minutes
  • Cool on wire racks
  • Icing :
  • In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, cream and salt
  • Bring to a boil over medium heat
  • Cook, stirring constantly for 2 minutes
  • Remove from heat
  • Add confectioners sugar
  • Whisk until smooth
  • If frosting is too thick add extra cream
  • Drizzle the icing over the cookies
  • Icing will need to set a few minutes before serving
  • Yields about 2-1/2 dozen cookies
