Best Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Chewy and slightly crunchy…these Oatmeal Raisin Cookies are a personal favorite of mine.
I like to call these breakfast cookies because they are packed full of healthy ingredients. (some not so healthy too) But they are delicious anytime of the day.
Loaded with plump raisins and plenty of cinnamon adds sweetness and warmth to this classic cookie. The oats and nuts provide plenty of wholesome crunch.

The ideal after school treat and these are great on cookie trays or for stocking up the cookie jar.
Best Oatmeal Raisin Cookies Recipe


  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, soft
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup raisins


  • Preheat oven 350 degrees F
  • Line 2 cookies sheets with parchment paper
  • In a large bowl cream together the butter and sugar
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract
  • Beat to combine well
  • In another bowl whisk together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon
  • Add the dry mixture to the creamed mixture
  • Beat together until well incorporated
  • Stir in the oats, nuts, and raisins
  • Use a cookie or ice cream scoop to measure dough
  • Place each scoop 2" apart on cookie sheets
  • Press down each scoop of dough to 1/2 " thick
  • Bake 12-14 minutes
  • Let set 5 minutes on baking sheet
  • Remove and place on wire racks to cool
  • Yields 2 dozen
